I have owned and operated the Victorian Closet antique store since 1972. It has always been located in the tiny gold rush town of Amador City, California.

My interests have always leaned toward textiles, fashion, interior design and window display. Consequently, my shop is filled with antique items that reflect these interests.

The Victorian Closet features American Quilts - ranging in age from the Civil War period through the years of the Great Depression. I try to keep at least 75 quilts in stock, and I make sure that each quilt is in the best of condition for its age.

Quite often, I purchase my textiles in France and England. The textile inventory is vast. It includes tablecloths, napkins, dresser scarves, sheets and pillowcases, doilies, pillow shams, and a fine selection of redwork. In addition, I have a large display case filled with vintage laces.

I have an extensive jewelry collection. Pendants, pins, bracelets and necklaces are available from the early Victorian period through the art nouveau and art deco era.

My vintage sewing items are quite unique - there are thimbles, needlecases, decorative pin cushions, tatting shuttles, tape measurers, and a huge selection of antique buttons.

I have been fortunate in my travels to find a large assortment of baby clothes, bonnets, christening gowns and a delightful selection of baby shoes.

The shop is filled with women's vintage clothing ranging from the Civil War Period to the 1930's. Here you will find handmade collars, summer whites, camisoles, and petticoats, corsets, Victorian clothing, capes, parasols, hats, hankies and fans. There are also undies and intimate fashion from the roaring 20's era.

Each day, I enjoy the interchanges I have with people who come into my shop. Even after so many years, I am continuously surprised as to how much new information I am able to learn from these conversations.
